This talk will provide a comprehensive overview of ISO 17025, detailing its development, essential components, and the significant benefits of accreditation. As we explore further into the practical steps for implementing ISO 17025 and examine the latest technological advancements and future trends, this discussion will underscore the essential link between reliable laboratory data and successful climate change mitigation strategies.
About the Speaker:
Ir. Dr. Man Djun Lee is currently a Senior Lecturer in the College of Engineering (Mechanical) at UiTM Johor Branch, Pasir Gudang Campus. He earned his PhD in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering from the Universiti Malaysia Sarawak in 2017, where he also completed his Bachelor's Degree with First Class Honours in 2013. Dr. Lee is a registered Professional Engineer in Malaysia (P.Eng), a Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy (FHEA), a Professional Technologist (P.Tech) with the Malaysia Board of Technologists (MBot), and a Professional Member of the Institute of Materials, Malaysia (M.I.M.M.). Dr. Lee's research interests are centered on sustainability, focusing on renewable energy (including ocean wave energy and hydropower), water research (encompassing water treatment and desalination), and waste management (such as developing novel products from agricultural waste and remanufacturing). To date, he has published over 40 research papers and completed more than 10 research projects worth over RM400,000. His contributions to environmental research include filing three patents. In recognition of his achievements, Dr. Lee was awarded the Young Developing Engineer of the Year 2021 by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, UK. Dr. Lee's expertise in laboratory metrology spans over 7 years in the field of ISO 17025. Since 2022, he has served as a technical assessor for ISO 17025, appointed by the Department of Standards Malaysia. He has also provided consultancy and training services to assist laboratories in achieving this esteemed standard.
