Synopsis
JBIOCC – As a continuous step to improve the level of service and monitoring of the city of Johor Bahru, the Johor Bahru City Council (MBJB) has launched the Johor Bahru Integrated Operations Control Center (JBIOCC) on Level 15 of the MBJB office. As everyone knows, there have recently been various issues closely related to traffic conditions, disasters, crime, infrastructure, enforcement, and other matters within the MBJB area. Following this, MBJB has a broad vision to address these issues by identifying the appropriate platform to facilitate and immediately identify the cause of these issues and act quickly before worse things happen. With this JBIOCC, it can reduce the impact and effects of disasters such as damage to public property and potentially ensure the safety of human life. Through early notifications from the field, MBJB and other authorities can take proactive steps to prevent and resolve issues, enforce regulations, provide support, and even make plans for the future to strengthen MBJB's role as an organization that is always prepared for all eventualities.
Coronation Square – In 2015, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar of Johor launched the Ibrahim International Business District (IIBD) transformation plan to redevelop or regenerate about 250 acres within the city center. Also launched at the same time was the 9.58-acre catalyst development called Coronation Square. Developed by Coronade Properties Sdn. Bhd., this integrated development is located between Jalan Wong Ah Fook and Jalan Trus in Johor Bahru. Coronade Properties Sdn. Bhd. is proposing a new redevelopment in Johor Bahru City Center, Johor Bahru, under Iskandar Malaysia, Flagship A: Johor Bahru City Center. The surrounding development encompasses the Central Business District and the State Capital of Johor. It also serves as the main gateway into and out of Singapore (via the Causeway). The current key economic activities in Flagship A include financial services, commerce and retail, arts and culture, hospitality, urban tourism, plastic manufacturing, electrical and electronics (E&E), and food processing.
The objective of this technical visit is to focus on the innovative advancements in the city of Johor Bahru, specifically addressing the challenges and opportunities in enhancing Greater Johor Bahru and promoting Johor Bahru as an international, cultural, and sustainable city. This exposure will help engineers understand the application of such engineering work in their field of practice or their existing business. We are pleased to invite all members to participate in this visit. Details listed as follows:
