Synopsis
To align with SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), and SDG 13 (Climate Action), optimizing energy utilization in a commercial building is important, especially since the air-conditioning system consumes more than 50% of the total building electrical load. Often, designers use equipment’s rated power consumption or coefficient of performance (COP) to design an energy-efficient building but overlook some factors that could affect the equipment's efficiency. In this presentation, these factors will be discussed, along with the suitability of centralized air-conditioning systems, such as VRV systems, for commercial buildings. Additionally, a proposal for a structural change to the building will be presented, which could potentially improve efficienc y of the air-conditioning system.
